LCOY Working Group
CONTEXTE
Depuis le tout début, les jeunes participent activement aux Conférences des Parties (COP) organisées par la Convention-cadre des Nations Unies sur les changements climatiques (CCNUCC).
En 2005, ils se sont officiellement réunis à Montréal avant la COP11 pour faire entendre leur voix, créant ainsi la première Conférence de la jeunesse (COY). En 2009, lors de la COP15, le secrétariat de la CCNUCC et les États membres de la Convention ont officiellement reconnu les jeunes en tant que groupe d'observateurs à part entière (confirmant le statut en 2011), pour représenter la voix officielle des enfants et des jeunes dans les processus de la CCNUCC. La circonscription est connue sous le nom de YOUNGO.
PRINCIPLES of LCOY
SUPPORT
The most important role of this working group is to empower and support young people who want to make a difference in their communities.
CONSENT
All decisions are made by consent. However, responsibilities can be delegated to specific groups that can then act autonomously.
TRANSPARENCY
Meaningful participation by all is only possible if we are transparent about the processes and our decisions.
EQUITY
We actively welcome each and every young person, no matter what background they have and with what level of experience they join.
LEARNING
Both as a group and as its members, we have to experiment, make mistakes, and learn continuously.
EMPOWERMENT
Empowering climate leaders by helping them to set up LCOYs in their countries and regions.
COORDINATION
Coordinating and developing the interactions between LCOYs, the global COY, and wider YOUNGO processes.
CONCEPT
Further developing the concept of LCOYs to build a strong global youth movement rooted in local action.
Talent wins games, but teamwork and intelligence win championships.
